Grant Zebra
|
Grant's zebras are vertically striped in
front, horizontally on the back legs, and diagonally on the rump
and hind flanks. This causes a V-shaped junction pattern about
the middle of the sides. Their color pattern renders them
extremely conspicuous against green backgrounds, but almost
invisible in tall grass, and very hard to make out on open dry
plains because of the breakup of their outline by the complex
striping. |
Reindeer
|
The reindeer is a hoofed animal related to the other kind of
deer's lat: cervus that can be found in most parts of the
world. Browsing through scientific literature might give you a
hint that the reindeer is special, since it sometimes can be
found listed together with the Munitacus and
Hydropontes.
Most of the special characteristics have developed as an
adaptation to the arctic and sub arctic, such as the broad
hooves which enable the reindeer to walk on and dig in deep snow
after food. The hooves are also flexible and can be spread out
to carry the animal on soft ground or snow. Useful both on the
soft snow in the springtime and on mosses and swamps during the
short summer. |
Llamas
|
Llamas utilize food in an extremely efficient way and are easy to care for. Their
typical diet consists of grassy hay along with a grain and
free-choice mineral supplement specifically formulated for
llamas that serves to provide added nutrients not available in
their hay. Fresh, clean water should always be available as
well. Llamas live up to 20 years in captivity if properly cared for. |
